Nehalem processors will be called Core i7

It seems that Intel has approved a name under which it will market its new processors based on the progressive Nehalem microarchitecture. According to an article on Expreview.com, the new generation of processors will be called Core i7 and should be presented by Intel on Monday. Despite this, they will not be available until the official start of sales in the last quarter of this year.

Produced by the 45 nm process, Core i7 processors will have from 2 to 8 cores, a three-channel DDR3 memory controller with a clock frequency of up to 1333 MHz, and support Multi-threading technology (multi-stream data exchange). Mass sales of three processor models, including the 3.2GHz Extreme processor for high-performance gaming platforms, are expected to begin at the end of this year. At the moment, the value of the i7 index remains unknown, but there is hope to find out at the beginning of next week.
