Anthem for designers

I’m sure that any designer is familiar with a story related to the approval of a design (website, poster, it doesn’t matter ...) when the customer (or, say, the boss) cannot approve the final version, and gathers a lot of people to “discuss design” (it’s worth noting that a big part of the audience does not understand the design at all). Why am I?

At one time, Sergei Mikhalkov wrote a wonderful fable ELEPHANT-PAINTER. I recommend this work to print and use as a hymn to all designers and sane managers working with the customer.

    AN ELEPHANT PAINTER

An elephant - a painter painted a landscape,
But before sending it to the vernissage,
He invited friends to look at the canvas:
    What if it suddenly failed?
Our guests are flattered by the attention of guests!
What criticism will he hear now?
Will not be cruel animal court?
    Overthrown? Or will they exalt?

Connoisseurs have come. Elephant opened the picture.
Who got up further, who came closer.

“Well, then,” began the Crocodile. “The
landscape is good!” But I don’t see the Nile ... "-
" That there is no Nile, there is no big trouble! -
said seal. “But where is the snow?” Where are the ice? "-

    " Allow! - Mole was surprised. -
There is something more important than ice!
The artist forgot the garden. ” -

    “Oink-oink,” the Pig grunted, “
The picture was a success, friends!”
But from the point of view of us pigs, there
must be acorns on it. "

All wishes were accepted by the Elephant.
Again he took up the paint
And, to the best of his ability, he
pleased all friends with an elephant brush,
    depicting snow and ice,
and the Nile, and the oak, and the garden,
    and even - honey!
    (In case Suddenly the Bear
Comes to see the picture ...)

The picture at Elephant is ready, the
    artist called the Friends again.
The guests looked at the landscape
    And whispered: “Jumble!”

Perhaps this fable will help many, convince “wrong” customers (thank God that not everyone is like that) that with their advice and the advice of a large number of people the problem of approval will not be solved, but rather the other way around , a whisper will be heard: "Jumble ..."
