Lecture by Richard Stallman on Volkhonka.

Today, March 5, 2008, an open lecture by RMS was held in Moscow. Unfortunately, I missed the two previous days that Richard stayed in our glorious capital. Magnificent, as usual, simple to madness, confident and convinced of his innocence, Mr. Stallman broadcast to the public for free software, the FSF fund, against DRM and Redmond products. He rarely joked, but aptly. Occasionally he smiled with his completely non-American smile after another sip of the life-giving extract from a special mug replenished from a teapot. I sat far from the rostrum, so sorry.

    Freedom !!!

We learned that freedom is great, that there is no democracy in the world, and that DRM will soon capture our mind and enslave our feelings. The magical Freedom !!! sounded from the stage Freedom !!! Freedom !!! ”, and the people smiled (well, they love freedom, of course), like a freebie, as it turned out later. RMS said a few words about making money on free software, people especially remember the story about the “donate $ 1” button in player programs and e-book readers. As it turned out later, he knows how to make money, and he knows a lot about our wooden rubles. =)

    To oranges, to whom vitamins?

What are you bustling about here? I sign only for bribes: 100 rubles.

    3 cigarette case imported ...

Yes! I am for the freedom to choose souvenirs. What? No - for 10 rubles I have nothing. Prices start at 50.

Eh ... My quilted jacket, quilted jacket

No one else buys anything. It's time for me to blame ...

    Smack, bye

While the kids, I love everyone and kiss ... Your Ricci.

You should not be mad at Stallman, he must also live: what a thin jacket, and in the shirt of his well-known hole for a long time, and he darnes his socks, poor thing ... Eh ... What a cute little pean =) He would like to carry on children's programs.

I cut off the RMS autograph with the signature and the wish “Happy Hacking !!!”. I noticed - the guru did not write with his hands for a long time. The FSF, “Warning DRM” and “GNU / Linux” stickers were also stolen from the table. The latter were in a hurry lost. More photos and an autographed GPL2 scan coming soon.

    Additions and corrections from BMW

Yes, indeed, Richard devoted a lot of time to services that provide any functionality on the side. Here is a well-known example - GoogleDocs. Of course it’s convenient, I won’t say why - everyone understands what I mean, but there is a drawback to a similar product, like many other same projects. We cannot study the internal structure of these complexes. Even if the sources are open, but in order to be able to test, modify, debug the package of programs / scripts, you need your own server, some software, etc. Consequently, additional resources are indirectly spent. And this is nothing more than a restriction on full, free use. (DRM sticker for a long time flaunts on sistemnik =))
