I erase language barriers. Is free
Something like this can be titled the things that I have been doing in my free time for several months now. After Russification of the CakePHP manual, I started translating into Russian the documentation for another framework.
The idea came to mind suddenly when handing over another freelance website made on its own CMS, I came across a wonderful framework. At that time - the end of summer 2007 - several articles and not a single resource were written about him in Russian. Now I can hardly remember what influenced my decision, but I registered the domain, began to painstakingly translate the material ... It gradually became clear that I overestimated my strengths: my free time was getting less and more and more tired of the text. The throw project was a pity and I hired a freelancer. As it turned out, this was a big mistake, because the deadlines were tightened, the text was disgusting.
Someone else had to edit for a long time, and without bringing it to an acceptable state. The documentation for the later version of CakePHP 1.2 was already translated by itself, taking less time, but at least regularly.
And what was the whole story about? .. Yes, to the fact that at the end I got involved - I liked it. And it doesn’t matter that for the sake of the project I had to take a dedicated server (I won’t dissemble, not only because of this project, but I wouldn’t have taken it without it) and that now I’m regularly knocking on Asya asking silly questions about the framework. The main thing is that I did not feel like the creator of a couple of dozen clones with the same functionality, but a kind of knowledge provider with an attendance of 300 people a day.
Today I want to present the second documentation that I am working on - the CodeIgniter framework. Of course, a forum, wiki, etc. will also appear, but a little later.
Attention, a question! But is all this necessary? Should novice programmers who are too lazy to indulge in learning English; whether in this way it is worth interfering with the birth of ideas, dividing people into two (taking into account other countries - more) camps? Answering these questions to myself, I say this: you need to be interested, they will be interested in Russian material - they will go look for the rest. What do you think?
PS By the way, there is something to say thanks to SamDark and mastapin .
