They say that something is stirring in the PalmOS / Access camp

    7.02 :

    Access will show cross-platform and related phone software based on its Access Linux Platform (ALP) operating system at the 2008 World Mobile Communications Congress in Barcelona. Among other things, a transcoder for websites and the DVB-H version of the NetFront browser will be presented.

    02/13 :

    A specialized portal for application developers for the ACCESS Linux platform, developed as a replacement for PalmOS, has appeared on the Web.

    The site already has an application development package (SDK) available - ACCESS Linux Platform Development Suite, ACCESS Garnet VM virtual machine for running ACCESS Garnet OS (Palm OS Garnet) applications in the ACCESS Linux Platform environment and a package for testing applications for compatibility with the platform - ACCESS Garnet VM Compatibility Kit.

    Included SDK:
    • Eclipse-based development tools;
    • Glade 3 / GTK based interface editor
    • Platform simulator
    • Tools for cross-compiling applications for the ARM architecture;
    • Documentation and libraries.

    Access also announced it has joined the LiMo Foundation, with 32 members. The most famous are Motorola, NEC, Panasonic, Samsung, AMD, LG Electronics.

    PS Actually, it’s not very clear what relation ALP has to PalmOS and whether there will be anything left from there. Screenshots do not cause any emotions. Judging by the letters "DVB-H", the Japanese are doing something for themselves ...
