Will Opera Mobile be free?

The release of Opera Mobile 9.5 , scheduled for the near future, has intensified the interest of the general public in the mobile version of the Norwegian browser, raising a number of interesting questions. In particular, many are wondering what happened with the upcoming release of Opera Mobile 9.0. On this topic gives its own explanations.Dani Goldman on his blog at OperaWatch.com. In fact, everything is very simple: the new mobile version runs on the Presto engine, which is the base for the desktop version 9.5 and for the opera SDK, which allows developing specialized versions of Opera for non-standard devices. Thus, it is logical that the new version bears the same number as the desktop version - in the end, this numbering fully corresponds to the company's strategy to provide the same Internet browsing capabilities to all Opera browser users, regardless of platform. By the way, additional screenshots of the new Opera Mobile 9.5 can be found in the official press release of Opera Software.

It is noteworthy that with the release of this version of the mobile browser on the network, talk began about the possible free availability of Opera Mobile in the near future. The fact is that at the moment this is the only browser from the entire Opera line (with the exception of the built-in specialized versions for devices), which remains paid. Meanwhile, other browser developers, including free or generally distributed under free licenses, are increasingly entering the mobile market. In this regard, experts expectOpera Software will repeat the step similar to the desktop version and make Opera Mobile free. I can add that in private conversations with the leadership of Opera Software I discussed this topic and at the moment the Norwegians have not yet come to any specific decision. Meanwhile, licenses for Opera Mobile were distributed free of charge to all university students, and this policy, apparently, is still in place. So we can say that the chances of seeing a completely free version of Opera Mobile are now regarded as 50/50 with a clear tendency towards a positive solution.
