PSPI - launch of Photoshop plugins under Gimp!

Well, finally I got a little karma, I’ll try to write my first topic here ...
So, what I always lacked when working with GIMP is Photoshop plugins. Yes, of course, they have their own image processing tools, but they are often not enough. When, once again, a photograph photographed by the Fractalius filter was posted on the "leprosy", I was seized by envy and I climbed meticulously google something like that under the gimp. And he found PSPI, the “adapter” between GIMP and the “3rd-party Photoshop plug-ins (.8bf files)." The Linux version of PSPI was released back in March 2006, but as it turns out, not everyone knows it ...

So, how is it done: go to the PSPI pageand pump out the archive for your system. Personally, I downloaded the binary under Ubuntu and although version 5.10 is indicated there, it got up perfectly on 7.10 with Gimp version 2.4. Unpack the archive and put the pspi and pspi.exe.so files in the $ HOME / .gimp-2.4 / plug-ins folder. Next, create a separate folder for Photoshop plug-ins, for example $ HOME / photoshop-pluins. We dump all the necessary plugins into it, respectively. We start the Gimp, select the “Advanced” (Xtns) menu and in it “Photoshop Plug-in Settings” and there we add the path from our folder with plugins. We reboot the Gimp and in the filter menu we get our favorite set of Photoshop plug-ins.

Thus, we can say that Gimp approached Photoshop at a fairly close distance. In fact, for home use it is more than enough ...
