Installing a driver for NVIDIA vidyahi in Ubuntu 7.10

Here I will tell you how to quickly and easily install a driver on NVIDIA cards. Basically, they advise everyone to install with pens - I suggest using a cool tool called Envy. She is the best option for the correct installation of firewood (at least I have not yet seen glitches), IMHO.

    • Download the Envy program: http://albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html
    • MANDATORY !!! We make a backup of a configuration of x:cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.mybackup
    • When starting Envy, we delete the existing drivers ("Remove NVIDIA Driver").
    • If he asks for a reboot - do it.
    • We go back to Envy. Now install the driver (you need an Internet connection, because the installation program will download the necessary packages).
    • We lean back and wait for the installation to finish.
    • Reboot.
    • We’ll reboot and select recovery mode in the GRUB menu.
    • We carry out cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf.mybackup /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    • Reboot again and install as needed.

    • Supporters of the console do not hit hard :) - this method is "housewife-compatible" ... however, like Ubuntu itself.
