Looking for work for the project manager (Moscow) - Part II - U-Soft

The first interview was on December 13 at U-Soft. I was invited to an interview while I was in Novosibirsk, and I talked to a nice girl, an assistant HR manager, on vacancies.

U-Soft company is initially engaged in consulting and helps to implement Consultant-plus. Their site is usoft.ru . Within the company there is a division (a separate legal entity?) U-Soft Consulting, which works with the web. Their site is u-soft.ru . In general, quite confusing naming for sites - I think I'm not the only one confused :). Project Manager Vacancy

Descriptionis on the usoft site. The requirements are written very loyally (male / female, high school, n / a; experience in project management; knowledge of the technology of creating websites; experience in working in a web studio is welcome), but the word “leader” is a little alarming. Of course, there is no fundamental difference between the “project manager” and the “project manager”, but still the manager assumes more skills and experience than the manager. Well, since U-Soft came to me themselves, this question didn’t bother me much.

The meeting with U-Soft began with filling out a questionnaire. Unpleasantly surprised by a couple of points:
    • computer literacy question. in other questionnaires, I also saw this question in the form - "what programs do you own." Of course, you can take the Debian repository and start writing out all the familiar programs - but why?
the questionnaire is again directed to work experience, and not to completed projects. Projects are significantly more important in IT than formal attributes such as education and work time in the company.
After filling out the questionnaire, I had to wait almost an hour waiting for the head of the studio, who met with the client. Unpleasantly - but if almost an hour I got to the office, then probably you can wait. In addition, the first interview.

The interview focused more on the work processes (what they did, in what order) than on the projects. From the questions I remembered whether MS Visio was used to render the software interfaces. The idea to do so is certainly not bad - but I always preferred to simply list the functional elements in the technical task. Just by drawing the elements, you already build them in some visual order and set the main tone of the designer. And this is just the work of the designer to arrange the controls so that it is convenient.

A good question was about CustomCMS (we used them on several projects) and the possibility of further development of such sites, but in our work we made sites on CustomCMS if it was immediately clear that the site did not imply significant functionality, but for serious projects we used Bitrix or OpenSource.

The interview ended on the fact that there are 3 possibilities for working with the company:
      • Transfer all current and future projects to create sites (a large number of online stores), but this raises the question of trust in the qualifications of the future project manager. In my opinion, U-Soft did not solve this issue. Or simply my experience is not enough to arouse such trust - but I already spoke about this.
Send me projects that need to be done through freelancers, in particular complex flash projects. But in this case, it is not clear why to work with U-Soft. If a person is so talented that he is ready to do large projects worth> $ 10,000 completely through freelancers, then it is time for him to organize his own web studio.
Work as an account manager and engage in contextual advertising. Yes, I can do it and I can (there’s even a Runner’s certificate, which I was never sent by mail!), but this is not of interest to me. If I decided to move away from contextual advertising and search promotion towards web development, then I need to go there and
after the interview we agreed that we will contact in a week if there is interest. They left me a phone, which I did not call. In my opinion, everything was clear even after the interview, but over the week my opinion has not changed.

Pros: the first interview in the last 2 years - and how many more are yet to be read and how many you will read :)
Cons: not that company, not that vacancy.

        PS
        1. In my beloved Novosibirsk, they already wrote about the upcoming multi-volume :) ballad about interviews.
