SCO in talks about selling their sins

The name SCO Group has long become a household name , it may soon come down from the mouth of the opensource community. Despite losing a long lawsuit over copyright on Unix and UnixWare and running bankruptcy proceedings, SCO has found a buyer for its Unix business, which will also cover legal fees for past litigation with Novell.

According to LinuxWorld, SCO sent a bankruptcy court request ( pdf ) to approve a deal with JGD Management, which will pay $ 36 million for its Unix intellectual property, for the costs of the ongoing lawsuit with Novell and IBM and as a contribution in partnership with SCO, the mobile application maker Me Inc.

The court must decide upon request by November 9th. In the case of a positive verdict (which, as many experts believe, is very likely) SCO will automatically get out of all disputes over Unix and deploy the business exclusively in the mainstream of software for mobile devices.
