Intel Core 2 Extreme Mobile Launches Third Quarter 2007

    Intel Executive Vice President Sean Maloney announced the launch of a dual-core Intel Core 2 Extreme processor for mobile devices at Computex in Taipei. According to him, the first processor for gaming laptops from the chip manufacturer will go on sale in the third quarter of this year.

    “The future processor will be a high-performance mobile dual-core processor, which will include energy-saving features to create user-friendly laptops,” Intel said in a press release.

    At the moment, there is no official information about the specifications of this processor and its price. Early reports suggest that the first processor in the Core 2 Extreme lineup for mobile devices will be the X7800 with a frequency of 2.6 GHz and a 4MB L2 cache. He will use the 800 MHz Intel Santa Rosa bus. The expected price for a batch of 1000 pieces of Core 2 Extreme X7800 processors is $ 795.

    Currently, some laptop manufacturers are already using Core 2 Extreme processors for desktop PCs in their laptops, positioned as gaming or workstations.
