FatDoor - a social network for neighbors

Yesterday, at the Where 2.0 conference in San Jose , an alpha version of the social network for neighbors FatDoor was presented .

FatDoor is a way to get to know your neighbors and quickly find them on the Microsoft Virtual Earth map, which allows you to switch between two-dimensional and three-dimensional views. This social network is a user-editable (a la Wikipedia) directory containing a list of people living in your locality. However, FatDoor is not limited to user data. With the same success in the service you can find information about local trading enterprises, events, shops and organizations. Moreover, all this information can be edited by users of the community. If your neighbors have not registered on the site yet, you can leave a message for them, which they will see when they join the community.

Information about local companies may include reviews and other data from across the Web. Any input from other FatDoor users can be viewed directly in their profiles. When you contribute to the site, you get points that increase your reputation on the site.

If access to personal information, along with the lack of control of what is displayed in FatDoor, scares you, then I'm not the only one like that :)
