By August 20, 2012 there may be no free IP addresses left

If in five years IPv6 does not replace IPv4, then we will face a big problem - the IPv4 report predicts that by August 20, 2012 there will not be a single free IP address. With this outcome, we may encounter brokers of IP addresses that would purchase them for resale on the gray market.

However, if ICANN takes away the unused address space from the squatters and removes it, then the free IP addresses will be until 2026. But it’s not entirely clear how ICANN will select these IP addresses, because now there is no such policy: any company can say that it needs an IP address and will soon start using it. In general, just like that, no one will give away their IP addresses and picking them up will be problematic.

After reading, you can understand that there is only one way out - the widespread adoption of IPv6, but will it be so easy?
