Projects in the era of Web 2.0.

Seven simple rules for creating future-oriented projects.

Rule One: Do not create complex systems.

Sophisticated systems scare users away, take a long time to build, and quickly become obsolete. This is their natural property, it must be taken for granted. Increase functionality as your community grows. Build foundations, not locks. Let users build by themselves. As a last resort, give them that feeling.

    Rule two: Forget about institutions.

The Internet has begun the era of People. Institutions lose in the internet race a priori, because they make it harder and longer to make decisions. In addition, institutions seek to reproduce their nature on the Internet - those very complex systems, “locks”.

Rule Three: Look for that which binds.

Value is created not only by the number of network participants, but also by the density, quality of relationships. Weave the fabric of relationships, promote them. Remember the law of Reed, not just Metcalf.

    Rule Four: Create metaphors.

Good metaphors organize work, increase popularity, bring money and followers, win elections. Surely they will cope with sites ...

    Rule fifth: Motivate.

Encourage content creation. The negative karma on habrahabr.ru after my first post in this community forced me to write another text, neutral to network trolls - just to gain access to the job posting service. The growth of rights, understood as access to opportunities, motivates.

Rule Six: Look for new audiences.

The market is open and will be open for many more years. The main thing is not to “shoot” too early. For example, a huge niche is now available in which strategic investments can be made: blogs about Russia in English. As the country is involved in world processes, any quality blog of this kind can become a “gold" one. A blog, say, by the types of certain markets, or consumer sentiment - “platinum”.

    Rule Seven: Forget it.

We are always dominated by our previous experience. A person thinks in terms of three years ago, and also evaluates the market. Verified by marketers. Learn to forget the past, drop the present, and plan “from the future” - your audience will appreciate it.
