"Adult" sites want to relocate to the domain.XXX

Corporation ICANN's , managing the address space on the Internet is not supported in May 2006, the idea to allocate a separate domain zonu.hhh for porn sites, but is now reconsidering its position. The seventh year has been a debate about the acceptability of the online “red light district,” but right now the likelihood of its resolution is higher than ever. Changing the terms of the agreement between ICANN and the ICM Registry (potential registrar in zone.xxx) to tighten them, perhaps, can affect the mood of opponents of the initiative, among which, for example, there are Christian organizations. The discussion will last until February 5 on the ICANN website.

According to Webpronews.com, two main points can be singled out in the new edition of the mentioned agreement. Firstly, ICM has committed to prevent minors from .xxx sites. Secondly, it should exclude the appearance on these sites of any manifestations of child pornography. Among other conditions - bans on marketing moves that mislead the consumer, as well as on the transfer of email addresses to third parties.

Recall that during the previous discussion of the “link” of the adult network industry to a special zone, ICANN refused precisely because of the registrar’s lack of clear control obligations. In addition, some public figures and public organizations spoke out sharply against the initiative. In their opinion, it is better for the flow of porn traffic to boil in a common boiler than in a specially designated place, because to allocate this place means officially recognizing the shameful phenomenon, sort of like giving it a residence permit.

However, the owners of the "strawberry" themselves are not enthusiastic about the idea. Xxx. As CNews explains, a significant part of the traffic to sites of erotic content comes from corporate computers during working hours. Employers do not yet have the ability to block employee access to all such sites, but maintaining a domain zone.xxx will make this filtering possible.

It is worth noting that the allocation of the .xxx domain does not mean the complete transfer of all "adult" sites to it - registration in the zone, if it does happen, will occur on a "voluntary basis".
