Registrars urged not to complicate phishers
F-Secure Antivirus Research Manager Mikko Hypponen made an appeal to domain name registrars urging them to stop issuing domains that could be used by phishers.
As an example, Mikko Hipponen cited the domain name signin-ebay-c.com, which was registered by a certain Craig Smith (Craig Smith). In the case of going to this address, a fake website depicting an online eBay auction opens, and the user is prompted to enter a username and password, which, of course, are stolen. “Isn't it obvious why such an address is needed?” Asks Mikko Hipponen. He also draws attention to the fact that false registration information is often indicated in the contact information during registration, for example, Mr. Smith and phone number 123142311.
