Gates Foundation Will Give Romania Free Internet

Romanians will be provided with free Internet in libraries - this is what the Bill and Melinda Gates Charitable Foundation seeks to allocate funds for the project (there are about $ 32 billion of them in the fund). According to Techlabs.by , the computerization of Romanian libraries is part of the global initiative Global Libraries, and similar projects have already been implemented in Latvia, Lithuania, Chile and Mexico. At the same time, it is emphasized that Global Libraries has nothing to do with Microsoft's plans to digitize materials from the world's leading libraries.

The Romanian Ministry of Culture noted: “We met with representatives of the Foundation three times and provided them with a map of our library network for study.” It is known that in the course of work, national libraries will be connected by a complex network of computers connected to the Internet.
