Synterra is going to develop WiMAX in the Moscow region and regions

    Company "Synterra" is going to develop WiMAX wireless access network in Moscow and the Central Federal District. Two-year investment in the project - in 2006 and 2007 - will amount to $ 4.5 million, reports Prime-TASS .

    Wireless access services will be provided in 6 cities of the Central Federal District and the nearest Moscow region. It is planned to recoup the project within three years from the launch of Synterra WiMAX networks.

    The company has the most scarce resources, radio frequencies: Synterra has certain frequencies in the range of 2.5-2.7 GHz in 16 regions of the Central Federal District, Moscow and the Moscow Region.

    In the capital, the company completed the construction of its own wireless network in April 2006, at the same time it announced the mass connection of corporate clients. Over the first half of the operation of Synterra networks in Moscow, the income from services amounted to more than $ 850 thousand. About 800 subscribers managed to connect during this time. The monthly ARPU of the network (the average income brought to the operator by one subscriber) was about $ 170.
