Sophos Campaigns for Macintosh

The company Sophos , working in protecting businesses against computer threats, has presented results of the study of cyber attacks last six months. According to these results, not many new worms and viruses have appeared, but malicious codes created to steal information and money have gone up.

The number of new trojans at the moment is correlated with the number of other viruses and worms as 4: 1, while in the 1st half of 2005 the ratio was determined as 2: 1.

Looking at this rapid progression, Sophos experts suggested that for security reasons, it is advisable for home PC users to switch to the Apple Mac, reportsDialogueScience. “Curiously, hackers seem to be happy to target their attacks specifically on Windows and are not keen on exploring other platforms,” said Graham Cluley, Sophos’s chief technical adviser. “It looks like the Macintosh will continue to be safer for users for a while - this should be taken into account by those planning to purchase a new computer.”
