Comstar-United TeleSystems and Mobile TeleSystems announce the launch of Russia's first SMS authentication service, which enables a user to pay for Wi-Fi services from his subscriber account with a mobile operator. Within the framework of this project, WLAN roaming between the networks of hot spots “Comstar-UTS” and MTS was organized. Now you can pay for Wi-Fi services from your personal account with MTS both in Comstar-UTS hot spots and MTS.
The SMS authentication service assumes that the subscriber receives a login and password for accessing the Internet in the territory of any Wi-Fi-MTS hot spot, for which the MTS subscriber sends an SMS message to the short number 1106 or 1107. Following the results of the operation from his personal account $ 5 or $ 10 are charged, which are necessary for an hour or two hour Internet access session via the Wi-Fi-MTS network, respectively.
“MTS is interested in participating in a joint project, first of all, in connection with the possibility of implementing an additional service for our subscribers,” says Sergey Irevli, head of Mobile Telesystems product development department. “At the same time, the technical management of the project was entrusted to Comstar-UTS, which performed the basic work necessary for organizing sms authentication — creating intranet billing.”
