Rally against isolation of Runet

Today, meetings were held in Russia against the bill on "ensuring the safe and sustainable functioning of the Internet on the territory of the Russian Federation." Such benevolent names of bills can feed officials, but not the professional community and ordinary people. It was possible to agree on mass actions in Moscow, Khabarovsk and Voronezh ( news about this on Khabr ). The rally was organized by the Libertarian Party and the Internet Protection Society; it was supported by the Pirate Party, Roskomsvoboda, and the Digital Defense campaign.

In St. Petersburg, Omsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur , and Irkutsk, they had to be content with the format of single pickets, which [so far] do not need to be coordinated with anyone. In St. Petersburg at the same timegot the office of Roskomnadzor . At a Moscow rally at the very beginning, the police decided to increase the degree of absurdity , but in general the event was held without mass incidents (details can be found here ).

The bill was adopted in first reading on February 12, 2019, about which they wrote on Habré here , and one of the options for action was discussed here . The second reading is due on March 13th.

Here's how it was in Moscow: The

organizers applied for 10 thousand people, 15 thousand people came. The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced about 6 thousand - well, okay, the organizers will not have to pay a fine for violating the order of rallies. At 3 o’clock in the news of Channel One, “about a thousand people” were reported.

The police very slowly searched the people at the entrance. I stood in line for about 15 minutes at the very beginning of the rally.

Above, I have already mentioned the expected specific presentation style of Channel One about the number of participants in the rally. Therefore, on the one hand, it is not surprising that the organizers of the rally did not let (and that, so it was possible? there’s also a story about the random ban RTVI) of the reporters of Russia Today and Life. On the other hand, I don’t really understand who was going to ban the ban in that case?

UPD on detainees in Moscow after the rally :
The results of a romantic evening in the Meshchansky police department: four defenders were missed by eight detainees, as well as water, napkins, chocolate and gingerbread cookies (and macaroons! Thanks to the support group from Sretenka). For some reason, you need to shrug and flirt for a long time, before letting lawyers in the police department, and then letting them go anyway. What's the point? All of our eight were released with the protocols under Art. Code of Administrative Offenses 20.2 part 5, non-custodial. This is not something without consequences: according to the protocol there may then be a court, and a fine of ten thousand, but the main thing is the terrible word “repetition”. If they are noticed by the system once at the next rally, then they will already be in the base, and will go under the Code of Administrative Offenses 20.2 part 8, and she is arrested. Two detainees complained of beatings during the detention, and we have audio recordings and photographs, yes. And a certificate from the emergency room. The story itself as a result of which Maria Eismont and I spent Sunday evening at the internal affairs department, and a total of six children without a maternal look, there is the fruit of pure administrative idiocy: the detentions began ten minutes after the rally ended. That is, according to the police, after it was announced that the rally was over, all its participants should immediately evaporate. Who is this nervous boss who led today's vintil? The recent March of Nemtsov did not have any of these fits of alertness. He was detained by the second operpolk of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate, if that. all of its members should have evaporated immediately. Who is this nervous boss who led today's vintil?
