[Announcement] Kingston Introduces DataTraveler 2000 USB Drive with Data Encryption and Mini-Keypad for Password Entry

At the annual CES 2016, Kingston introduced the DataTraveler® 2000 Secure Flash Drive . The novelty uses hardware data encryption and a PIN code to access the device, which the user must enter on a special mini-keyboard. The drive will go on sale in the first quarter of this year. Of course, as soon as the flash drive is available, GeekTimes readers will be able to see an overview and detailed testing of the drive. The drive is designed to ensure the confidentiality of digital information storage and unauthorized falling into the wrong hands and is aimed at IT-specialists, small and medium-sized businesses, as well as corporate users. it easily integrates into a working environment using different devices and operating systems, due to the fact that the drive is independent of operating systems, and its 256-bit AES encryption in XTS mode is done hardware in the drive and requires neither software nor drivers.

An alphanumeric keyboard located on the drive’s body allows the user to protect the USB drive with a digital or alphanumeric password. Additional security is provided by an automatic lock that is triggered when the drive is removed from the USB port. To prevent the possibility of accessing the data by exhaustive search of all possible combinations with 10 unsuccessful attempts to enter the password, the encryption key and password are deleted without the possibility of recovering them. Reliability is provided mechanically - from the environment, water and dust, it is protected by an aluminum cover.

“We are excited to replenish our line of fast and secure USB drives for the enterprise segment ,” said Ken Campbell , Head of Flash Services, Kingston. “ DataTraveler 2000 is suitable for environments where you need a single encryption and data protection system, but where many different devices and operating systems are used .

DataTraveler 2000 uses the Datalock® technology created by ClevX . Kingston and ClevX have been working together for many years. The company's innovative security and mobility solutions are also used in other Kingston secure flash drives.
The novelty will be available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB memory. DataTraveler 2000 is covered by a three-year warranty and free technical support. For more information, visit www.kingston.com .
