Fusar: how to turn your helmet into a smart helmet

The secret of a startup’s success is not always in truly innovative developments and technologies. You can achieve it by developing the functionality of existing inventions, while combining them into a new ecosystem. The creators of the modular concept of the Fusar smart helmet went this way - as a result, their project raised more than $ 200 thousand on the Indiegogo platform.

Kit
The Fusar kit includes three main modules - the Mohawk action camera, the wireless headset and the control panel in two versions - with a steering wheel and wrist mount:

As an integrating element with a wide range of application functions, it is proposed to use the native Fusar application for Android smartphones and iOS
Camera The
Mohawk action camera is the central module of the entire smart helmet system.

At the heart of its 12-megapixel CMOS sensor from Sony, video shooting is carried out in several modes, the maximum - 1080p60. Original technical solutions include a lens rotating within 180 degrees - thanks to this, the camera can be mounted both on top of the helmet and on the side.
The obvious comparison with the latest GoPro models in terms of the characteristics of video and photography, of course, is not in favor of Mohawk, but the creators focus on something else. Firstly, on the aerodynamic silhouette of the device:

And secondly, on the remote control using the included remotes, which can be placed on the steering wheel - if we talk about motorcycles or bikes, but also on the hand - if used for roller skating or stunts on a skateboard.
In addition to the camera itself, the Mohawk waterproof housing includes a GPS / GLONASS module, an accelerometer, a three-axis gyroscope and a magnetometer.
Recording is done on an external 64GB SD card. A 2400 mAh battery allows the device to work from 2 to 4 hours, depending on the mode. The battery lasts 2.5 hours.
Remoot
As already mentioned, it comes complete in two versions, both waterproof:

The device controls both the camera’s shooting modes and the switching of the headset’s operating modes. Using the three available buttons, it performs 9 functions: playing music, receiving and rejecting calls, activating voice chat mode, video recording, photographing, and so on.
application
The application synchronizes all the functions of the camera and headset with a smartphone, acting as an integrator of modules and communicators for external networks.

Navigation, direct video and photo recording from the camera, voice chat operation in push-to-talk mode (walkie-talkie) at any distance, route tracking, instant distribution of all traffic information via networks, including emergency notification of emergency situations to selected contacts plus automatic call relevant services.
Another interesting point is the internal module, like a black box. Fusar records and blocks in memory the data of all telemetry for the last two minutes before the accident - GPS coordinates, audio and video information, speed.
Cost and delivery
Pre-order for the kit can be placed onproject page on Indiegogo. The price of a complete set is $ 399 plus shipping to Russia $ 30.
