Formula E and Kinetik announced the championship of unmanned vehicles

Formula E and Kinetik on November 27, 2015 entered into a partnership agreement to launch the world's unmanned racing electric car series. A new championship called “Roborace” will provide a platform for testing unmanned solutions. It will be attended by major players from the automotive industry, as well as leading technical universities.

The plan is that Roborace will be a Formula E championship support race starting in the 2016-2017 season. Races will be held before Formula E races along the same routes in major cities around the world (the current Formula E calendar consists of ten races, cities such as Beijing, Buenos Aires, Paris, Berlin, London and Moscow and other). Ten teams, each with two unmanned vehicles, will compete in an hourly race throughout the season. All teams will use the same cars, and the competition will be in the used calculation algorithms in real time and artificial intelligence technologies.

Denis Sverdlov, founder of Kinetik and Roborace:
We believe that in the future all cars in the world will be electric and unmanned, which will improve the quality of the environment and road safety. Roborace is a celebration of the revolutionary technology and innovation that humanity has achieved in this area at the moment. This is a global platform to demonstrate that robotics and artificial intelligence technologies can coexist with us in real life. Thus, anyone who is now on the verge of these transformations will have a platform to show the advantages of their unmanned solutions, and besides this competition will push the development of the technology itself.

Roborace's mission is to demonstrate that the future of automotive and information technology is already here and they can already work in extreme conditions. Roborace believes that there are many independent talents in the world who can contribute to this initiative. That is why one of the racing teams will be organized as a crowdsourcing community open to software / technology enthusiasts and experts from around the world.

In addition, Formula E and Roborace will be supported by Charge, a car startup founded by Kinetik, which is developing a revolutionary hybrid propulsion system for commercial vehicles. Charge will become the official freight partner of the Formula E championship and will supply electric cars for the parade of pilots, tractors for evacuating cars during the races, as well as buses for transporting guests and visitors to the наeVillage venue (festival venue that takes place during Formula E races )

    Alejandro Agag, SEO Formula E:
We are very pleased to partner with Kinetic and that it is one of the most advanced sports events in history. Roborace is an open competition of the most innovative scientific and technological companies in the world. It is very interesting to create a platform to demonstrate what they are capable of and I believe that this is a very big potential for us, to reveal the idea of crowdsourcing competition as well.
Further details about the teams and the technologies used will be made early next year.
