Amazon showed drones delivering merchandise in new ad with Jeremy Clarkson

Amazon has not given up its intention to ship goods by unmanned aerial vehicles. Moreover, the project to develop a drone delivery system is gaining momentum. Today, an advertisement was shown with a number of announcements and a demonstration of what the delivery of a new type would look like if the US regulator allowed Amazon to work with UAVs in this way. The well-known Jeremy Clarkson starred in the video.
The company demonstrated a prototype of the Prime Air drone - in the video they look quite large, and the aircraft itself is different from what was shown earlier. The drone has two propeller systems - one for vertical take-off and landing, the other for horizontal movement. Amazon believes that it is “partly a helicopter and partly an aircraft”, adding also that “the new design of the drone allows you to travel long distances efficiently, land and take off quickly and without problems.”
This is not the only UAV the company is working on. An Amazon spokeswoman said this is one of many prototypes that are currently being worked on. In addition, Clarkson in advertising says that in due time, a whole family of Amazon drones will start working, which will differ in accordance with the type of environment.
In advertising, the drone can independently identify the landing pad in the backyard of the house, successfully delivering the goods.
In order for the drones delivery system to work, it is necessary for the US Federal Aviation Agency to allow the use of airspace with a “ceiling” of 120 meters for drones. There are other restrictions - the weight of the cargo should not exceed 2.2 kg, and the radius of the aircraft should not exceed 24 km (distance from the warehouse). Clarkson also talks about the security system - for example, about the UAV’s ability to “feel and go around obstacles”. If you imagine the active movement in the air, with a large number of drones, then such a system will clearly not be superfluous.
Delivery time by drone is less than 30 minutes. True, for the implementation of the scheme, as mentioned above, the permission of the regulators is necessary. Only after this, the UAV will be able to deliver goods directly to the customer’s door. And then - so far only in the USA,
