Sony SmartWatch 4 will show at CES 2016

The presentation date was repeatedly shifted, and in the middle of the year SmartWatch4 was “promised” to be shown on IFA, then rumors “postponed” the presentation to November, and now they say that the new Sony watches will be released in early 2016. They will be a little more elongated, a little better protected from dust and moisture, as well as “burden” them with several new sensors. Forecasts are inside.

Despite some skepticism in expectations, the watch turns out to be discussed, and, according to some assumptions, the characteristics will significantly surpass previous versions.

There is reason to believe that the model will work on the basis of Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, 1.2GHz, they will have 512MB of RAM, and an altimeter and an optical heart rate monitor will be added to the main sensors of the previous model:

    • Ambient Light Sensors
    • Accelerometer
    • Compass
    • Gyroscope
    • GPS
    • + Pulse
    • + Altimeter

The model partially inherits the design of Sony SmartWatch3, however, it will become thinner and slightly more elongated, preserving the old 420 mAh battery. In the previous model, it lasted up to 2 days of work. Given that it is planned to add support for 4G, the battery life can be significantly reduced.

The cost range predicted for this model is from 300 to 350 dollars, or more than 20,000 + rubles at the current exchange rate, which is almost twice the cost for the SmartWatch3 model, which costs 11,900 rubles in the official store today .

Also, the model is more expensive than current models from LG: Urbane - 18 990 rubles and Moto 360 - $ 299.99. Moreover, in the context of the upcoming Sony product, these models are often referred to as reference models, and critics claim that the time of rectangular and square watch models has passed, citing Huawei as an example.

I also remind you that in addition to the third watch model, which similarly worked on Android Wear, in 2013 the company released a version of SmartWatch 2 , which worked in conjunction with Android devices and allowed you to control the functions of the smartphone in the radius of Bluetooth, as well as receive and respond to notifications. The first Sony SmartWatch was presented at CES-2012 .

At the same time, it is known that Sony in March 2016 planned the start of sales of the Wena model - a smart watch with an analog dial.
