HTML5 version of StarCraft

The original StarCraft game (with the addition of Brood War) has been ported to HTML5 . Now this masterpiece from Blizzard Entertainment is launched right in your browser. True, this is not yet a complete game, but only demo levels, but it looks quite worthy. The developer worked hard, porting code from the C, C ++ programming languages and assembler to Javascript.

A user with the nickname Ryuta published the source code on Github. If you place the game on your personal computer, which acts as a server, you can play offline by running StarCraft on localhost.

The development of the HTML5 version is especially good news for Linux users, because before the game did not start directly in the free OS, but only through Wine. Now the demo works without emulators. The cult strategy in real time came out 18 years ago, but so far it can be called the quality standard in the RTS genre. Anyway, it's nice to remember the good old days that came back thanks to modern web technologies. Perhaps not for long. The repository on Github contains proprietary StarCraft graphics, for which Blizzard Entertainment can fly to the author.

By the way, work is also ongoing on porting Starcraft 2 to WebGL .
