The Russian State Art Library digitized books from 1750-1981

    Elar digitized books for the Russian State Library of Arts (RSLI) dating from 1750-1981. The books are dedicated to painting, icon painting, sculpture, theater and architecture and are written in English, French, German and Italian.

    Among the digitized books - a monograph by Pietro Rossini "Il Mercurio Errante" edition of 1750. The sheets of the book are partially torn, the binding and spine are damaged. To ensure the safety of the publications, Elar carried out non-contact digitization using the Elar PlanScan planetary scanner. The RSLI has been working with Elar in this area since 2000.

    Electronic editions will be available in the library reading room. During 2015, they will be available online,they write on the website of the Russian State Library for Contemporary Arts .

    The Russian State Library of Arts contains works on theater, film ballet, drama, costume, architecture. The library has two million editions.

    Digitization of books and exhibits is an important task for libraries and museums . In January of this year, a fire damaged 15% of the funds of the scientific library of the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. According to the director of INION, no money was allocated to digitize library funds.
