In Switzerland, test the delivery of goods by drones

Delivery of small cargo by drones is a great idea, the implementation of which, however, immediately received a bunch of obstacles in various countries. For example, Amazon planned to arrange the delivery of small goods by drones, but then it turned out that for this it would have to get a bunch of different kinds of permits, which is almost incompatible with the normal implementation of such activities (though, in March, the company managed to get all the necessary permits from the FAA) . However, companies in some countries, in addition to the United States, are trying to introduce drones in the cycle of delivery of goods and parcels.

In the summer, the Swiss company Matternet will test this delivery method. At the same time, the partners of the company are the Swiss Post and a subsidiary of Swiss WorldCargo. Delivery will be at the last mile. It is worth noting that for Matternet this is the first serious test of its technology. If everything goes well, then a similar delivery scheme will be used by other companies in this country.

Delivery will be carried out by drones of the company called ONE. Such a drone can carry cargo weighing up to 20 kg. At the same time, aircraft can independently avoid obstacles; the operator is entitled to reprogram the delivery route.

If the tests pass well, these same drones will be tested in China and the USA, with a similar purpose. It is worth noting that in February, the Chinese company Alibaba conducted a three-day test of the drone cargo delivery program in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. In March, Amazon still received permission from the FAA to deliver goods using UAVs. It is not yet clear when all these programs will change status from test to regular, but progress is noticeable.
