Garmin HUD: Navigator with projector for car windshield

    Finding a path in the complex infrastructure of city roads can be a daunting task even for an experienced driver, not to mention newcomers. For the convenience of a motorist, smart developers have created navigators showing all the necessary traffic information. But looking at the road and being distracted by the navigator may also not be very convenient.

    Garmin developers went even further and created a navigator with a projector. This device projects the data necessary for the driver, either on the windshield (you need to stick a special film) or on a plastic cover. Garmin HUD shows in which direction you need to turn, how much is left before the turn, after how much you can arrive at the place.

    Design and installation

    Externally, the Garmin HUD looks pretty simple. The casing is black, the display is vacuum fluorescent (VFD). The image on the screen is bright, contrasting, thanks to this information is visible on the windshield. The navigator is equipped with a stand, with an angle of inclination from 0 to 50 degrees vertically. As for the horizontal - there are no restrictions.

    Due to the special shape of the stand, the project can be installed on the surface of almost any shape: even flat, even convex.

    Charging for the device is also equipped with an additional USB port, which allows you to connect not only the device itself, but also another device.

    Work with the device

    Installation of the gadget is carried out in a few seconds: we place it in a convenient place for ourselves, stick the film, if necessary, connect to auto charge. In addition, you need to one-time pair the Garmin HUD via Bluetooth with the device where you have the necessary application: Garmin Street Pilot ( iOS ), or NAVIGON ( iOS , Android , WP ). This application is a source of information for the navigator-projector, which shows all the data the driver needs.

    The projected image is clearly visible only to the driver. Actually, the passenger does not need it.

    After connecting and pairing with the phone, the gadget is ready to work. We can say that the Garmin HUD is an addition to a smartphone or tablet, but not an independent device. Compatibility: iOS, Android, Windows Phone.

    The following information may appear on the display:
    • Direction of movement;
    • Distance to turn / maneuver;
    • Current and maximum allowed speed;
    • The desired lane;
    • Traffic data;
    • Camera data;
    • Overspeed warning.

    It should be noted that the Garmin HUD displays only what is shown above, the device does not display the card on the screen.
    It looks like a mobile application
