Blockchain Foresight Research

We are starting a foresight study of blockchain technology in various sectors of the economy. And today we need your help - thoughts on the forecast format and participation in a small survey. Based on the results of the study, new articles will be published here.

The purpose of this study: to give a forecast for the next 5-10 years (from 2018 to 2028) about how this or that sphere of human activity will change using blockchain technologies.

We hope that in this IT community we will be able to receive the most constructive comments, ideas and suggestions. And, perhaps, proposals for further mutual cooperation on research.

Who are we? Masters and Advisors of the Krauslab Mastersin BFU them. And Kant (Kaliningrad). A research project (or “Learning Set”) is one of our practical tasks, but for each of us personally it is part of our professional interest in this area, as well as a desire to understand what awaits each of us in the foreseeable future.

Our target audience: these are entrepreneurs and representatives of business structures who have just become interested in the new trend and want to get more structured and high-quality information about its directions, as well as understand how their business can look in 5-10 years.

As a starting point, we identified the following areas of activity using PwC's public data :

The list of areas of activity (27 items)

Having carried out a comparative analysis of various predictions and having studied many clever articles, we created a small prototype - a table that describes how a specific type of economic activity will change. And how strong a driver of change will be each of the tools of the ecosystem of “distributed registries”, be it the opportunity to release their own cryptocurrency or build a DAO.

But the table still has one metric, where 100% of the scale corresponds to the fact that in this area the old familiar processes and functions will completely die off and will be replaced by new ones. While this is a sketch, it makes no sense to publish it here without modification. And the final product of the study should become more attractive, usable and with a clear range of metrics.

Therefore, now our task iscollect as much feedback as possible on the forecast format . If you have 5 minutes for thoughtful answers, please open this survey form on Google with 7 very important questions for further research.

If not, we will be glad to see your thoughts on the two main ones below in the comments:

1. What is worth adjusting in the above list of areas of activity?

For example, to make it simpler, as in the definition on Wikipedia .
Or, conversely, to detail according to subspecies of activity.
Or simply add the missing sector of the economy.

2. What personally serves as a metric and indicator of the success of a particular field of activity?

As if you were looking for a new direction for yourself and, studying this indicator, you would begin to engage in this activity.

Your opinions and wishes will be taken into account in future work. And be sure to write if you want to become one of us or act as an expert.

We plan to complete this stage of the study in January-February 2018 and present it for discussion and analysis to a wider public. But do not stop there and move on, narrowing down to some of the most interesting industries or functions of distributed registries.
