How to draw a Christmas tree in MIDI
- Tutorial
About a year ago, videos in the style of MIDI Drawing began to appear on Youtube , in which notes are used for drawing. It looks funny, sometimes it even sounds pretty acceptable.
Despite the apparent complexity, even those who vaguely imagine the differences between the seventh chord and the triad can do this. Consider the example of creating such a video using the example of a picture with a Christmas tree:
It all started with a post on Facebook that scored about 3 million views:
The original video uses FL Studio , but we will use the simpler online editor RiffShare.
Open a blank sheet in the online RiffShare editor - open in the editor
Add the simplest rhythm on the drums - a low drum in every fourth cell, high every other time, and a few cymbals:
open in the editor and listen
Add a bass line. Let it be a monotonous boom-boom-boom, for example, on a note of Mi. To make a little more lively budum use two bass alternately.
open in editor and listen
For sheet music E major chord also contains notes of G sharp and C. In order not to go into theory, chord notes are those frequencies that sound good together.
Make the yellow instrument (violin) the reference lines on the indicated notes in each octave. Then we will delete the lines themselves. they are needed only for drawing.
We will also add the tree with a green instrument (this is a guitar, but its sound will also not be needed and we will lower the volume to zero):
open in the editor and listen
Add the rhythm of the melody in red (guitar with overdrive). Just randomly arrange the notes on the same strip as the bass, but an octave higher:
open in the editor and listen.
Move the notes on the branches of the Christmas tree to make a melody:
open in the editor and listen.
The main work has been done. Add the notes of the red instrument (any from the bald, but only on the rhythm bits and the pitch of the chord notes, then they will sound good).
We remove the yellow stripes, we listen to the final result:
open in the editor and listen.
It looks like a Christmas tree, it sounds normal.
To share a melody, it is not necessary to record a video. It is enough to copy the URL in the " full URL (right-click and select 'copy link address') " item in the editor’s menu (the icon with the nut in the upper left corner) and paste the link into the comment, post or any text message.
