Rumors about Facebook closure in Russia denied

Roskomnadzor denied rumors about the closure of the social network Facebook in Russia. These rumors began to spread for two reasons: the Facebook administration is blocking some Russian users and is “looking through their fingers” at posting extremist materials on social networks. Such incidents do not yet occur systematically, but they cannot be called isolated.

Earlier, the deputy head of Roskomnadzor Maxim Ksenzov deleted his page from Facebook. He did this after one of his posts was deleted by the network administration. “By the way, I always said that all kinds of resource administrations are much tougher and more cynical, not limited by any scope than any state bodies,” he commented.

Also, for a week the account of the writer Eduard Bagirov was frozen. On the eve of July 6, it became known that the account of the journalist Maxim Kononenko was blocked.

However, the secretary of Roskomnadzor Vadim Ampelonsky assured that these problems are being solved. The agency will also discuss with Facebook representatives a number of issues relating to Islamic terrorist groups and Ukrainian nationalist organizations, reports RBC.

“We are not considering closing Facebook in Russia. We are interacting with him. Nobody dances to the tune of social networks. We hold a low profile. A language that incites hatred between nations is unacceptable. Facebook is doing everything right, but this principle should not be selective, ”the secretary explained.

This March, Facebookupdated its Community Standards . They clearly regulate the rules and restrictions when publishing posts on social networks. Under the new rules, for example, threats or the organization on the social network of acts of violence in real life are prohibited, support for terrorist organizations is not allowed. In addition, insults to people on the basis of racial or ethnic origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or illness should be removed.
