We invite you to the Data Fest on March 5 and 6



    On March 5 and 6, Data Fest 2 , a two-day series of meetings of the Russian Data Science communities Moscow Data Fest and Moscow Data Science, will be held at the Mail.Ru Group's Moscow office . Data Fest 2 is a conference where participants will have the opportunity to get acquainted with different areas in modern data analysis: from purely practical issues of implementing research results to the latest theoretical developments in text analysis and deep learning.

    The conference will also host two events where all participants will be able to prove themselves: a hackathon for those who want to compete with each other in predicting the outcome of the Dota 2 tournament and a pitch-poster session for researchers, where it will be possible to present the results of their research and development.

    In the Kaggle training format, participants will discuss the decisions of the latest Kaggle competitions, and multiple winners of the competitions will share their experience with those present.

    14:00 Panel discussion “Features of hiring Data Scientists”

    For an hour, representatives of technology companies and universities will discuss what to expect from candidates for the position of Data Scientist and how to form teams of analysts.

    In the already traditional format of Moscow Data Science-meetings, researchers and engineers will talk about the practical problems they face in their work.

    18:00 Network analysis. Social network analysis meetup

    In the section devoted to the analysis of network data and social networks, specialists and researchers will talk about the results of their research in sociological problems and applied projects.

    20:00 Night hackathon. Dota Science challenge

    On the night of March 5-6, the final of the tournament for the popular Dota 2 game “The Shanghai Major 2016” will be held. Participants in the hackathon will be offered real-time match data, based on which they will need to predict their outcome. Additional information on the hackathon can be found on the website.. During the night, live broadcasts of matches will be broadcast in the cinema hall of the Mail.Ru Group office.

    11:00 Dota 2 hackathon results. Awarding of winners

    At the end of the hackathon, not only the best teams in Dota 2 will be determined, but also the best analysts of this game, who most accurately predicted the outcome of the matches. Winners will receive pleasant prizes from the organizers.

    12:00 Research Festival. Pitch-poster session.

    Section participants in the 5 + 5 minute format will tell the results of their research on Data Science topics, as well as posters of their works. We invite students, graduate students and researchers to participate. Applications with research abstracts and draft drafts should be sent to anatekin@deloitte.ru. The top 10 entries will be determined by a March 1 vote in the OpenDataScience #slack community.

    14:00 Panel discussion “Implementation of research in production”

    In this panel discussion, company representatives will discuss best practices on how to transfer research results to working solutions and products.

    15:30 Deep learning. Moscow Deep Learning meetup

    Deep learning opens up all new possibilities for many applications. In this section, researchers will present the results of their research, as well as reviews of the latest results in tasks related to deep learning.

    18:00 Analysis of text data. Natural language processing meetup

    In the final section of the program, devoted to the analysis and processing of natural language, the researchers will talk about thematic modeling, as well as about the latest developments in question-answer systems.
