Motorola MOTOROI - the company's flagship Android background
After a long lull, Motorola decided to literally flood the market with a variety of smartphones based on the Android OS. After the already famous Motorola CLIQ (DEXT) and DROID (Milestone), the company introduced 3 more devices: MOTO MT710 , MOTO XT800 , and Motorola Backflip. It is reliably known about at least 3 more devices of the company that are preparing for release in the near future. Interestingly, the American manufacturer is trying to get into all segments of the market at once, offering smartphones of the middle price range with social services and devices of the HTC HD2 level (the announcement is closer to spring). Apparently the company is doing quite well, over the past 2 and a half months, Motorola DROID has already sold more than a million copies, and the results of the 4th quarter of 2009, which will be announced at the end of the month, promise to be the most successful in the last 3 years.
Today we’ll talk about another new Motorola MOTOROI XT720 company, formerly known as the Sholes Tablet (for comparison, DROID / Milestone had the internal name Sholes). Although the phone has so far been announced only for the Korean market, it supports communication standards that are atypical for Europe and America, and is even equipped with a tuner for receiving Korean T-DMB mobile television, the announcement of the global version of the device is not far off. The Chinese will receive the third modification of the smartphone with the index XT701and a weaker camera. In April, the smartphone will also be available in Russia. By the way, Motorola Milestone with an upgrade to Android 2.1 can also be bought in the store at the beginning of March at a rather affordable price for this class of devices at 22,000 rubles at the start with a subsequent reduction. What can surprise the second device on Android 2.0 (in a month - on Android 2.1)?
The device is positioned primarily as the best photo resolution in the class. Motorola MOTOROI features an 8 megapixel camera (module from Kodak) with a xenon flash and a whole bunch of features, such as red-eye reduction, face recognition, image stabilization, multi-shot, manual and auto focus (the phone focuses on the point in the frame that you click on finger) and so on. Moreover, the phone records video in HD resolution of 720p. Those who wish can evaluate the work of the camera on a promotional video on YouTube. Well, to output all the footage to a large TV, the phone has a real HDMI connector. Other features include a 3.7-inch capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 854 × 480 pixels and support for multi-touch, Wi-Fi, aGPS, 3.5mm and other standard things. A hardware platform with a Cortex A8 processor (800 MHz) and a powerful 3D accelerator is used. All this in a case with a thickness of 10.9 mm (in the wide part) and dimensions of 115.9x60.9 mm with a weight of 139 grams (a lot of metal is used in the case). In Korea, the phone will be available for sale in early February. In Europe, the cost of the device will be slightly higher than Motorola Milestone.
I also want to note the very bold design of the device. The American manufacturer has once again demonstrated a complete disregard for the existing traditions of industrial design, stereotypes and familiar forms of handheld devices. Who said that the phone should be flat and the corners rounded? The Motorola XT720 reminds me of IBM laptops in the best years of this company - utilitarianism, functionality, brutality and uneven titanium covers at the bottom of the laptop, blocking access to various parts of the electronic filling of the device. Together, all this created a unique style, for which the company’s laptops are still loved. Motorola MOTOROI has the same story: if at first glance the phone seems disproportionate, crooked and strange, then from the second it is incredibly cool and stylish.
