GlacialTech IGLOO 5760 cooler review - baby for HTPC

In April 2010, GlacialTech introduced a new multi-platform CPU cooler, the IGLOO 5760 . The novelty has an original design and completely small sizes, among the currently produced air cooling systems. Of course, you should not expect superhigh efficiency from him. However, let's see what results the new product from GlacialTech will show during our testing. Cooler GlacialTech IGLOO 5760 comes in a cardboard box, decorated in black and gray-blue tones. On the front side of which is the manufacturer’s logo, information with the key features of the cooler and compatibility information with various Intel LGA 775/1156/1366 and AMD AM2 / AM3 platforms.

On the back of the box, and its side walls, there is information about the technical specifications of the IGLOO 5760, website address, e-mail and contact numbers of the manufacturer. Also, this information can be found on the official website of GlacialTech. Inside the cardboard box is the processor cooler itself. The scope of delivery also includes mounting systems for supported platforms and instructions for installing it. The radiator, with a mass of 350 grams, has dimensions 96 x 128 x 90 mm and consists of three 8 mm heat pipes, to which 55 aluminum plates are soldered.

The radiator is equipped with a GlacialTech JT9225M12S002A fan of size 92 x 92 x 25 mm, the rotation speed of the blades of which is regulated by the PWM method in the range of 800 - 2000 (± 10%) rpm. On the ribs the name of the manufacturer and the cooler model are extruded. The base has dimensions 40 x 38 mm and is equipped with an additional radiator. The ends of the heat pipes located at the base are flattened to increase the contact area. However, it is worth noting that the distance between them is not filled with anything. The quality of processing the base is at a very high level: no irregularities and traces of the cutter were noticed, the base is polished to a mirror shine.

The attached set of fasteners consists of three back plates (for installing the cooler on Intel LGA775, LGA 1156, LGA 1366 motherboards, respectively), two steel plates, mounts for AMD platforms and four spring-loaded bolts.

The installation process is very simple and not complicated. First, we fasten steel plates to the base of the radiator. After we install the backplate in the mounting holes of the system board, we fasten the radiator using a special key with four spring-loaded bolts. Test configuration and testing methodology Processor - Intel Core i5 750 ES (2.67 GHz, Lynnfield, rev. B1) Motherboard - Asus Maximus III Formula (Intel P55, Intel LGA 1156, BIOS 1801)

    RAM - Apacer, DDR3, 2 x 1024 MB, CL9-9-9-24, 1.5 V
    Video card - Gigabyte GeForce 9600GT (GV-N96TZL-512I)
    Power supply - Enermax EMG500AWT (Modu87 +, 500 W)
    Hard disk - WD3202ABYS RE3
The cooling system is GlacialTech IGLOO 5760. Testing was carried out in the operating system Windows XP SP3.

For temperature monitoring, the RealTemp 3.58.4 beta program was used, for monitoring the fan speed Everest Ultimate Edition 5.50.2100, for graphical display of Riva Tuner 2.24c monitoring. The load was created using the graphical shell of the Linpack test - LinX 0.6.4 for 15 minutes using the entire free memory. The Intel Core i5 750 processor was overclocked to a frequency of 3600 MHz with a supply voltage of 1.325 V. The speed of rotation of the fan blades was 2200 rpm. Testing was carried out on a horizontally located open bench. The temperature in the room at the time of testing was 24-25 degrees Celsius.

    Test results
The test results obtained show that the new GlacialTech IGLOO 5760 cooler is able to ensure the operation of modern processors in a fairly acceptable temperature mode, even in an overclocked state. The maximum temperature of the hottest core was 86 degrees Celsius with these test system configuration settings. Advise you to use the GlacialTech IGLOO 5760 lovers of HTPC. With its small dimensions and light weight, it should ideally fit into compact systems. In addition, the manufacturer plans to release this model at a very modest price of $ 25, and therefore we present this cooler with the “Smart Choice” award.
