Report from InterSystems Global Summit 2014

From March 16 to March 19, the annual Global Summit hosted by InterSystems was held in Orlando, Florida . This event attracts hundreds of developers and partners working with the company's products. This year more than 800 people gathered. There were many who were with their relatives, whom I also thought had something to do, because there are many different amusement parks in the district, in one of which we visited all together.

Under the cut is a small photo report.

At the summit there were sessions in the mode of presentations, and sessions at the academy, which required preliminary registration due to the limited number of places at them. The academies conducted an in-depth study of topics with practical exercises.

The event was held at the Hilton Bonnet Creek Orlando. Large roomy hotel with a large conference area, where there were many halls from large to small rooms where small presentations could be held. A swimming pool where you can sunbathe and swim. Nearby is a golf course, on which the first day a competition was held with the participation of those who arrived at the summit. There was also a soccer competition.

On the first evening, all visitors were entertained with live music in nature. On the second day the weather turned bad, there was heavy rain, and the party was already in the room where we had breakfast and lunch. The main part of the summit began with Keynote Presentation, a live broadcast was conducted from this presentation, and everyone could watch it online. It all started with a short speech by Terry Reigon, president and founder of the company. Recording of Paul Grabscheid's speech.

For developers, the Developer Zone was organized, where you could sit at the tables to talk, discuss InterSystems technologies with the leading developers of the company. It was possible to connect your laptop, recharge the phone if necessary. Throughout the territory allotted for the summit, Wi-Fi Internet was available. There were also public computers with Internet access. The rooms for holding academic sessions looked something like this, they were equipped with laptops, and practical materials were given at the entrance. The laptops were connected to the Internet and a prepared virtual machine was prepared for all of them with everything necessary for practical training.

The main corridor in which, on the tables later housed partner companies that this year represented their companies and their projects. This year we were entertained at Universal Park. The park was available only to the participants of the summit. 4 rides were available: roller coaster; and 4D movie theater rides: minions, transformers and shrek. And on the street, everyone could enjoy a variety of exotic food and drinks.

This was my first trip to the summit, and I do not regret it at all, everything was very wonderful, excellent organization of both the summit itself and the presentation sessions, academic sessions, excellent entertainment. Unfortunately, practically no one was there from our Russian-speaking community, and it is a pity. I hope to visit this event more than once in the future and wish the others to get there too.
