3 in 1: Code Hour, Informatics Day, and Volunteer Day

If you want to make a mini-revolution in education, see a children's “hand forest”, eyes begging you to play robot or enthusiastic squeals from a successfully animated sprite, then they are children in our schools who want the same. And they are waiting for you to come and teach them how to code. 1 day, 1 lesson, 1 hour. It is really easy.

Today we want to tell you about the Hour of Code initiative of the Code.org project and invite you to participate. Moreover, this year this is all officially supported by our state . And especially since December 4 is the day of computer science in our country, and December 5 is the international volunteer day.

So. Code Hour is an international series of programming training events. We can all take part in this. All you need is a week from December 4 to 12 to conduct a lesson in one of the schools in your city according to the proposed methodology.

    Read and act!

Well, or write to us about your desire on hoc@codabra.org or in vk & fb groups .

Here is what we offer for our part.

    1. Detailed instructions on how to conduct one demo lesson, including a plan, a video example, a handout.
    2. A support group where you will be advised on all arising issues.

Code.org- This is one of the largest non-profit organizations today, which is engaged in the popularization of programming. The project in 2013 was founded by Ali and Hadi Patrovi, the famous business angels in the valley. At the moment, it is financially supported by companies such as Microsoft, Google, Facebook (the full list is here ). The project’s goal is nothing less than to make programming the same standard lesson in a school curriculum, such as algebra, biology, or physics. Among other things, Code.org is an excellent free online platform for teaching children to play programming in a game form, which we tried in our lessons and will definitely write a separate article about it.
