Netatmo Weather Station Gadget

Netatmo measures the temperature, humidity, pressure, noise level and the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the room, as well as the temperature and humidity in the street. WIFI data is transmitted every five minutes to the Netatmo cloud server. They can be viewed from a browser, as well as using applications for Android and iPhone / iPad.
You can read about how important it is to know the level of carbon dioxide concentration in the room and to air it in time here: habrahabr.ru/post/187210 .
Netatmo is the first weather station with a CO2 level meter.
Technical parameters of Netatmo Weather Station.

Additional functions :
Detailed weather forecast for 7 days;
CO2 color indicator;
Access from various devices: browser, Android, iPhone / iPad.
In the main mode of operation, the weather station does not interact with a computer or mobile devices. It is connected directly to the Internet and automatically transmits readings every five minutes to the Netatmo server. Mobile applications take data from this server from the Internet. In the browser, it looks like this:

Pay attention to the CO2 level - it was worth sitting all morning with the windows closed and the air conditioning turned on, and it already exceeds 1000 ppm.
In addition to current data, weather forecasts are shown and graphs are plotted for each of the parameters measured by the station. The signal level of the street block is also shown (it hangs outside my window in the next room at a distance of about 6 meters from the main block behind two concrete walls), its battery level and Wi-Fi signal level.

It is interesting to trace the change per day. CO2 level rises at night (yes, I emit carbon dioxide in a dream :), gradually decreases during the day when no one is at the expense of an open window leaf and rises sharply in the evening when I am sitting at a computer. A sharp decrease in 4 nights - it became stuffy for me, I got up and opened the balcony.

See how the temperature and humidity change during the day.

The pressure does not change much, the noise level most depends on when I open the balcony or listen to music. :)

A very interesting opportunity - you can see what other Netatmo show nearby.

It turns out that in Moscow there are already quite a lot of them.

Everyone can watch such a card, not just Netatmo owners: www.netatmo.com/weathermap
The Android application shows the current settings when the smartphone is in a vertical position.

And the graphics are horizontal.

The iPad app also shows the weather forecast and the chance of rain.

The set includes home and outdoor units, four AAA batteries for the outdoor unit, two options for attaching the outdoor unit - a wall plug with a screw and Velcro tape, a 5V 1000 mA power supply (the station consumes only 20-40 mA), a USB-MicroUSB cable.

Everything is made in the silver-white style of Apple. Even on the box is a photo of the iPhone.

The outdoor unit is powered by four AAA batteries. They are enough for a year.

The home unit also has an AA battery compartment, but in the current version it only works on mains.
The back of the outdoor unit has a mounting slot, and the rear of the home unit has MicroUSB and USB connectors. The first connector is used to power and connect to a computer, it is not known why a large USB connector is needed.

I fastened the outdoor unit with Velcro to the air conditioning pipe under the window.

It is important that the street block is protected from rain and sunlight.
At the home unit, a white vertical bar is an indicator - it lights up in different colors when setting, in addition, when you touch the top cover, Netatmo transmits readings “on request” and the color of the bar shows the CO2 level (green - everything is fine, yellow - acceptable, red - badly).

Initial setup is done on the computer to which the home unit is connected via USB. At the first start, the NetatmoWizard program updates the Netatmo firmware.

Then it connects to your home Wi-Fi network.

To check the accuracy of the Netatmo readings, I compared them with the readings of the AZ Instruments 7798 CO2 datalogger CO2 monitor.
Netatmo shows the temperature very accurately - the discrepancy did not exceed 0.5 ° C. Humidity is always overstated, sometimes even by 11%. Apparently, Netatmo uses cheap resistive humidity sensors. The CO2 readings are fairly accurate - they differ by no more than 20 ppm at low CO2 concentrations and no more than 75 ppm at high.
Netatmo Weather Station official site costs 169 euros . In the MadRobots online store, this weather station costs 7,990 rubles , which is even a little cheaper.
Initially, I did not plan to leave the station to myself, but I liked it so much that I decided to use it constantly. Such things make the world more comfortable and compact. Previously, I didn’t even imagine that, being in Paris, I could watch what temperature, humidity, CO2 level and noise in my house.
