The government is ready to pay for the study of Russians in foreign universities

The Russians, who independently entered the leading foreign universities, will be able to undergo training at state expense. According to Izvestia, last Friday, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree.

The program is called "Global Education" and provides an opportunity for anyone who wants to study at the best foreign universities for free, but there are conditions. Firstly, the applicant must already have a bachelor's degree. That is, junior students do not get into the program. Secondly, after graduation, the student will be required to work at least 3 years in a Russian company. Otherwise, he will be obligated to pay a fine three times the amount that was spent on his training.

The program is designed for 2014-2016, during which time it is planned to train at least 1.5 thousand Russians at the state expense. In total, the authorities expect to spend about 4.4 billion rubles on this. The maximum amount allocated for training one person will be 1.5 million rubles. The list of universities, the tuition of which will be paid by the state, has also been approved by the government, it includes more than two hundred universities in 25 countries. Among the selected specialties, technical, medical, computer, chemical and energy prevail.

The government’s final list includes the best universities in the world. It has Massachusetts University of Technology, Harvard University, Cambridge University, University College London, Oxford University, Yale University and several dozen universities, each of which is included in the rating of “The best universities in the world”. The cost of the academic year of study in them ranges from 17 to 30 thousand euros, and university fees are about 6 thousand per year, this is not counting the cost of living, add Izvestia.

Back in January of this year, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree according to which Russian students who enroll in leading foreign universities on their own can count on state support in the amount of 1.5 million rubles.
