DigitalOcean Opens Singapore Data Center

    image

Well-known hosting provider DigitalOcean today delighted everyone with the news about the launch of a new data center in Singapore. The data center was launched in collaboration with Equinix . This is long awaited and great news for those who care about their presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

This region became the sixth in addition to the existing ones, in which the creation of droplets is possible. Thus, the following regions are currently available for selection:
    1. New york 1
    2. Amsterdam 1
    3. San francisco 1
    4. New york 2
    5. Amsterdam 2
    6. Singapore 1

I tried creating a droplet in the new SGP1 region to look at the delay. For my case, the average delay is 317 ms. These values are significantly higher than those for New York and Amsterdam.

    SGP1 - Singapore
    --- 128.199.253.115 ping statistics ---
571 packets transmitted, 556 received, 2% packet loss, time 571291ms
    rtt min / avg / max / mdev = 284.834 / 317.866 / 387.451 / 18.845 ms

    NYC2 - New York
    --- 107.170.33. *** ping statistics ---
272 packets transmitted, 272 received, 0% packet loss, time 272032ms
    rtt min / avg / max / mdev = 110.696 / 113.499 / 132.585 / 4.729 ms

    AMS1 - Amsterdam
    --- 146.185.173. *** ping statistics ---
100 packets transmitted, 100 received, 0% packet loss, time 99458ms
    rtt min / avg / max / mdev = 38.865 / 39.422 / 45.910 / 0.954 m

In general, for whom this region is of interest - go for it. On the other hand, I would like to look at the delay values from other havers, and the values from China are especially interesting. If anyone has one, please share. For the purity of the experiment, I will leave the Singapore droplet alive for another week.
