Baboom: Kim Dotcom's New Project
On January 20, Kim Dotkom, founder of the Megaupload file sharing service and Mega cloud storage, launched a test version of his new project, Baboom. Baboom.com is a streaming music service with elements of a social network. Dotcom himself calls his project a hybrid of Spotify and iTunes.
So far, on the site, in addition to a colorful screensaver, you can see only the page with the music of Kim himself and listen to her there.
The service will have a set of standard functions for such a project - streaming playback, recommendations, the ability to create playlists, etc. In addition, any user will be able to make money on his work. For example, for the best remixes, the authors will receive up to $ 5,000, and for the best clips, up to $ 10,000. One of the main advantages of the service will be a more equitable distribution of profits between artists and music labels.
Most of the content will be paid, but some songs can be downloaded for free.
The date of full launch of the project is not announced, but most likely this will happen only by the end of this year.
