The Antimonopoly Service of Russia will be engaged in verification of Gmail

Google has repeatedly come to the attention of antitrust services in different countries. Germany, France and some other countries checked different Gmail services at different times (proceedings are ongoing to this day). This time in Russia they decided to check Google for fair competition. More precisely, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation will check Gmail.

The check was started not just like that, but because of the receipt of requests / complaints from users of the mail service to the service. According to officials, some Gmail users are unhappy with the analysis of their letters (albeit purely automatic) by the corporation. It is clear that this is done not just like that, but with the goal of showing the user ads relevant to him (inside Gmail or on third-party sites).

This technology has been used by the corporation for a long time, but the Russian antitrust monitors decided to start checking the legality of such an analysis just now. By the way, Natalya Kasperskaya, director of InfoWatch, said that, in her opinion, Google still violates the laws of the Russian Federation.

As for other popular mail services in Russia, including mail from Mail.ru and Yandex.Mail, these services do not analyze user emails. According to representatives of these companies, letters are not analyzed for a number of reasons, one of which is the reluctance to annoy your own users.
