New freeware software from NetWrix

A couple of months ago, we published an overview of our free software for monitoring changes and access control. Since then, new versions of completely free programs have appeared. Perhaps they can come in handy for you in your work.

Under the cut, we’ll talk a little about three new NetWrix freeware

• to manage privileged accounts,
• monitoring and restarting services
• monitoring free disk space.

1. Privileged Account Manager
NetWrix Privileged Account Manager (PAM) maintains and protects privileged accounts in Active Directory, servers and other systems. For access and automatic maintenance of administrative accounts, a secure web portal is used - management and audit for all privileged accounts of the organization become centralized.

PAM provides secure role-based access to all privileged accounts: all authorized users must “receive” a password before work, and “surrender” it to the system again at the end of operations. All operations are monitored, making it possible at any time to establish the real identity (employee name) of any common administrative user (for example, “Administrator” or “root”) with a full audit log - who got access to what, when and where. In addition, at specified intervals (for example, every 90 days), PAM automatically changes the passwords of privileged accounts, synchronizing them with the target systems (for example, updates passwords for services and scheduled tasks).


2. Disk Space Monitor
NetWrix Disk Space Monitor is a free tool that allows system administrators to monitor free space on domain controllers, file, Exchange and SharePoint servers and database servers. The program allows you to centrally monitor free space on specified servers and sends daily reports on free space. Also, when critical values ​​of free space are reached, the program notifies the administrator by e-mail. The program allows you to track free space on an unlimited number of servers.


3. Service Monitor
NetWrix Service Monitor is a free tool for monitoring critical Windows services with the optional restart of the service after a failure. The program monitors all automatically launched services on a group of servers and, in the event of a sudden failure of one or more of them, sends notifications by e-mail. The restart function ensures that all controlled services will operate without downtime. The lightweight program is easy to configure: install, enter computer names and specify the desired email address.

These are three full-featured programs that you can use for free for administration without limits and restrictions.

Also in April, we updated the program for auditing file servers NetWrix File Server Change Reporter. The free version of the program also received an update - version 3.3 added support for fault-tolerant servers.
