One of the main tasks of Google Maps is to help the user get from point A to point B. We are constantly working to make it even faster and easier. Today we’re introducing new Maps features that help you get to your destination even faster.

More information for a comfortable trip
Detailed information about traffic jams has become available for another 6 cities in Russia. If you live in Novosibirsk, Kazan, Ufa, Perm, Saratov or Krasnodar, just go to maps.google.com and select the “traffic” layer in the widget, which is located in the upper right corner of the map. Traffic information for new cities is also available on the corresponding layer on Google Maps for mobile andGoogle Maps Navigation (beta) .

In addition, we recently updated information on the bus and metro timetables in Moscow, so that you can always be on time everywhere! Travel time For many, the most common way to travel is, of course, a car. Nobody likes to spend time in traffic jams, so you - our users - before you go somewhere, you first want to find out how well the city “rides”. Now we can tell you exactly how long the planned trip will take, taking into account the situation on the roads. Thanks to this, you will know exactly when you get home, to a meeting or to a restaurant where you have a table booked.

Of course, a trip by car, especially during rush hours, is not always the best way to get to one place or another. We have developed a function with which you can find out which vehicle is better to use and how long it takes to travel by public transport. Traffic jams at different times If you do not have a strict reference to travel time, most likely you will want to hit the road when traffic jams are minimal. On Google Maps, you can see what kind of traffic is usually at a specified location and at a specified time. To do this, simply use the widget in the lower left corner of the map. Have a nice trip!

* You can help us collect more accurate traffic data if you allow access to your location information in the Google Maps mobile app for Android. Other drivers will appreciate it!
