After a couple of years of silence, Shutdown Day resumed its work. This time he underwent a small transformation.
Firstly, the founders and organizers of the previous Shutdown Day (2007, 2008 and 2009) this time have nothing to do with the launch (except for the idea), and secondly - this year the shutdown day is held only in Russia (on the .ru domain ), thirdly - Shutdown Day 2012 is more loyal to the person, it gives the right to choose the shutdown (computer, tablet or phone), fourthly - this day falls on May 16, and on the eve of May 15, we all look forward to the release Diablo 3. Well, and fifthly - May 16th is Wednesday, such a working environment.
The rest is unchanged:
1. the fight against Internet addiction (within the framework of the current sdd, an experiment is being conducted in one of the Tambov universities. There 25 students voluntarily refused to use the Internet for 3 weeks, and are observed daily by doctors and psychologists);
2. insignificant, but possible energy savings (multi-volumes can be written about this, read the opinions of experts regarding the Earth Hour by WWF);
3. promotion of a healthy lifestyle (probably the most important trump card of the current sdd is to go out, meet friends, spring).
The community’s reaction to such flash mobs is still interesting. But, I think, it has not greatly transformed since past years. Here are links to past days (read comments):
