A cheaper "clone" of the Raspberry Pi is created
It seems that the Raspberry Pi the size of a plastic card has generated a real fashion for computers with a miniature form factor. It is known about the Nvidia patent for a USB flash drive that connects to the TV’s USB port. Now another “clone” has appeared, and it promises to be in all respects better than the original: more powerful, less and cheaper.
The public organization Rhombus Tech is going to present the developers with the reference design of a modular computer the size of a PCMCIA card. It will be equipped with an ARM Cortex A8 processor , three times more powerful than the 700 MHz ARM11 in the Raspberry Pi, and the wholesale price of the new PC will be only $ 15, that is, 40% cheaper than the Raspberry Pi for $ 25.
The only difference is that the idea of Rhombus Tech is only in the plans so far ( wiki for proposing ideas ), while the Raspberry Pi will go into mass production in the 1st quarter. 2012, and copies of the test batch begin to be sold in the coming days.
