Yandex.Traffic helps set up city traffic lights
- From RSS
Any motorist knows that traffic jams form in front of some traffic lights. And Yandex.Traffic knows exactly what and how much.
An experiment was conducted in Zelenograd - one of the problematic traffic lights was reconfigured taking into account Yandex.Traffic data.
This is a traffic light at the intersection of Panfilovsky and Central Avenues ( http://maps.yandex.ru/-/CBagu6oR ).
The graph shows the average speeds with which cars usually crossed the intersection from each of the four sides during the day:
Here you can see that the main problem arises on Central Avenue in the evenings: from 17:00 to 19:00 there is a huge failure in speed up to 10 km / h And traffic on Panfilov Avenue in both directions is almost without difficulty.
To eliminate the failure and not worsen the situation in other directions, we changed only the evening work schedule of the traffic light - the green light for cars moving along Central Avenue began to burn longer. After that, for a month we watched the traffic at this traffic light, and the average speed graph turned out to be like this:
As you can see, the speed failure on Central Avenue was completely eliminated and the other directions were not affected.
Now in turn are other intersections of Zelenograd.
PS Separately, we want to thank Konstantin Antonovich, who helped establish cooperation with the traffic police of Zelenograd.
