iriver Story HD will be the first reader with Google eBooks integration

On July 17, that is, next Sunday, in the American network of Target stores and in the online store Target.com, a device for reading electronic books iriver Story HD from the South Korean company iriver will appear. This will be the first reader with the integration of the Google eBooks open platform launched in December , with which users can buy and read books from Google eBookstore via Wi-Fi.

iriver Story HD will cost $ 139.99 - the same as the Kindle and Nook Simple Touch Reader. The reader has a 6-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 × 768, which makes it the device with the highest resolution in its class.

Hundreds of thousands of books from Google eBookstore will be available to users for purchase and more than 3 million - for free. Unlike  other devices compatible with Google eBookstore , Story HD users will be able to buy and read books from Google eBookstore via Wi-Fi.

As stated on the official Google blog, the Google eBooks platform is designed to be open to all publishers, retailers and manufacturers. Manufacturers such as iriver can use the Google Books API to connect their devices to the full Google eBooks directory.
