The organizers of the contest "Best Free Project of Russia" 2010 decided to save
It is published at the request of and on behalf of Ilya Muravyov, about whom I already wrote in a post about the problem with ctrl + shift in linux.
I had the opportunity at the end of 2010 to participate in the aforementioned competition . We can only say positively about the very idea of the contest - after all, this is one of the few ways to show yourself and evaluate the Open Source movement in Russia as a whole. However, there is one problem.
An impressive prize, according to the organizers of the competition (“Linux Format” with the support of several companies), was not given to me as the runner-up in the “Individual Project” nomination. They did not give not only me, but also the author of GoldenDict, Isakov Konstantin, who took 1st place in the same nomination; and surely the rest of the winners of the “contest” will confirm the same. And given the fact that the organizers are no longer responding by mail, this means that there will be no money (I recall - the contest ended in mid-December 2010).
The point, of course, is not only money: the goal of this post is to inform other participants of the 2010 competition, as well as possible participants of the future contest "Best Free Project in Russia" -2011, that there was no reason and will not be involved . Even the diploma mentioned below in correspondence with one of the organizers can not wait.

while we have not all sponsors paid their part of the money, so the issuance of
cash prizes is slightly delayed. We will try to pay in late
March or early April.
And, it would be more convenient for us to send the award through - through the CONTACT system
or Blitz. And in that, and in another case, the money is obtained by passport in
a bank branch. Tell us how you prefer to get them!

bank branch to receive money, money will be sent to

The correspondence ends on March 21. Let me remind you that the contest ended in mid-December, and now it is mid-July.
Thanks to the attentive rikardoac , it turns out there is already an answer from the organizers and one of the sponsors .
Pavel Frolov, General Director of GNU / Linuxcenter (CJSC Mezon.Ru):
The situation with the Autumn Marathon and the contest “Best Free Project of Russia 2010” is as follows. The payment to the finalists is on the schedule of our payments, but we had financial difficulties due to the fact that one of the sponsors of the contest refused to deposit money into the prize fund (because the person with whom we agreed on sponsorship quit and his colleagues refused to answer for it arrangements with us), and another one was introduced only partially, and the second part will be received by us only at the end of summer 2011.
According to the situation for today, we have not received more than half of the prize fund for paying prizes to the finalists of the competition, and so far we have not paid anything to any of the finalists in 2010. The only option I can solve this problem that I see is to cover the shortage from our own funds of the GNU / Linux Center, but we do not have free money now. Therefore, under good circumstances, we will pay compensation to all winners, including the winner of the Autumn Marathon until the end of summer, and if it is bad, until the end of 2011.
I am personally the first to blame for this situation. bad deal with sponsors.
- Sincerely, Pavel Frolov, General Director of GNU / Linuxcentra (ZAO "Meson.ru")
Konstantin Kochereshkin, PR-manager PingVin Software
Dear participants of the contest “Best Free Project of Russia 2010”. We were surprised to learn about the current situation. On December 28, 2010, Penguin Software Company transferred 300,000 rubles to the account of Mezon.Ru CJSC (GNU / Linux Center). T.O. All obligations of Penguin Software, as one of the sponsors of the event, have been fulfilled.
Sincerely, Konstantin Kochereshkin PingVin Software PR Manager
